1. Who can apply to live here?
We welcome women aged 18+ who are ready to embrace recovery and build a fresh start. If you’re committed to staying sober and want to be part of a supportive, uplifting community, we’d love to hear from you!
2. How long can I stay?
Recovery looks different for everyone, so we don’t rush the process. At Steps Within we offer supported accommodation for women in recovery, with flexible stays depending on individual needs.
Most women stay for several months, but residents can remain in our women’s recovery housing for up to two years if needed. During this time we work together to create a personalised recovery plan, helping you build stability, strengthen your recovery, and develop the confidence and life skills needed for independent living.
3. Do I need to be completely sober before moving in?
We offer two stages of recovery housing to support women at different points in their journey.
Our Dry Housing is for women who have already achieved at least 30 days of sobriety and are ready to continue strengthening their recovery in a structured, abstinence-based environment.
We also offer Transitional Housing for women who may not yet be at that stage but are committed to moving towards sobriety. In this phase, we provide support, stability, and access to recovery resources to help women build the foundations needed for lasting change.
Our aim is to support each woman through the recovery process and, where appropriate, help them progress from transitional housing into our dry recovery housing as they move forward in their journey.
4. What kind of support will I get?
At Steps Within, you’ll be surrounded by women who truly understand the recovery journey. Our house provides supported recovery housing for women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, with a strong focus on connection, structure and personal growth.
Residents receive weekly 1-to-1 support sessions, along with weekly professional counselling to help work through personal challenges in a safe and supportive space.
You’ll also have access to 12-Step meetings and a range of recovery-focused wellbeing activities, including workshops, breathwork sessions, sound healing, Zumba dance classes, and other holistic activities designed to support both mental and physical wellbeing.
Alongside this, you’ll become part of a supportive community of women committed to recovery—offering encouragement, accountability and sisterhood every step of the way.
5. Can I work or study while I live here?
Absolutely! Recovery is about rebuilding your life, and that includes work, education, and personal growth. We just ask that you prioritise your recovery first and keep communication open about your commitments.
6. Can I have visitors?
Yes, of course. We understand how important it is to stay connected with supportive people in your life. Female visitors are welcome, and we simply ask that you check in with the other residents first as a courtesy to ensure everyone feels comfortable in the shared space.
Male family members may visit with prior agreement from management and the other residents. We also warmly welcome visits from sponsors and recovery friends who are part of your support network.
7. How much does it cost?
Most of the accommodation costs are covered through Housing Benefit. Residents are asked to contribute a small weekly fee, which goes towards shared household costs such as council tax, utility bills, and WiFi.
If you have any concerns about affordability, please don’t worry, we’re happy to talk things through and help you understand the options available.
8. What should I pack?
Bring comfy clothes, toiletries, and anything that makes you feel at home, plus any prescribed medications. We’ll give you a full list of dos and don’ts before you move in, so don't stress or panic.
9. How do I get started?
It’s simple—just reach out to us! We’ll chat about where you’re at, answer any questions, and see if our home feels like the right fit for you. You’re not alone, and we’re here to help you take that next step toward the life you deserve.
